Aldershot’s Community Grub Hub now has a life-saving defibrillator thanks to housebuilding company Taylor Wimpey.

Taylor Wimpey’s Simon Wakerley, who is the company’s Construction Manager at the new Admiral Park development at Tongham, popped into the hub in Windsor Way to pass on the defibrillator to Grub Hub Director Steve Baxendale and was joined by Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet Champion Councillor Lisa Greenway.

The Grub Hub is a community hub and food bank for the residents of Aldershot and Farnborough, which is a Community Interest Company (CIC), offering food and social support services to those in need, while also helping to reduce food waste. It is open every Tuesday between 10am and 4pm.

For more information on the hub, please see the Community Grub Hub website.

Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Community and Residents, and Deputy Leader, Councillor Sophie Porter, said:

“It's great to see Taylor Wimpey donating this vital defibrillator to the Community Grub Hub, and we're really grateful to them. The Grub Hub provides such an important service for people in need from across Aldershot and Farnborough.

“Defibrillators are life-saving devices and I have personally witnessed this. Having one close by is a real benefit for busy locations like the hub, and I would urge the community to locate their nearest defibrillators and familiarise themselves with how to use them.

“As a council, we are currently looking at installing defibrillators in key locations, across the borough, as part of a wider roll out in priority need areas which currently lack them.”
