This week, our Cabinet received an update on some of the council’s performance information (September through to December) and how key projects and activities are developing and contributing towards the Council Plan.
The Cabinet heard from the Leader of the Council that progress has been made since the council’s corporate peer challenge in June last year and 50% of the actions are now in progress or complete.
Following the introduction of the Freedom of Information tracker tool in July 2024, the council has now been able to improve the percentage of information requests responded to on time to 91%.
In this quarter, the council has been able to move ahead with a number of projects funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, more than 95% of these projects have been completed and work is under way to create a town square for markets, events and activities in Farnborough town centre. Fourteen UKSPF funded Shop Front Improvement Grants totalling close to £20,000 are being awarded to independent traders in Aldershot, Farnborough and North Camp. Several community events throughout the year such as Playfest, the Rushmoor Heritage Festival and Christmas events have been made possible thanks to the funding.
Among the highlights in the recent quarter were the council’s efforts to create cleaner streets with 14 fixed penalty notices issued for fly-tipping and the ‘Walk This Waste’ trial in Cherrywood, Farnborough.
The council continues to process new housing benefit claims swiftly, so that residents can access support and new claims are currently processed withing four days (England average is 22 days). Residents continue to have high satisfaction with our customer services team, with 80% rating their experience of the service as excellent. Also in this quarter, Rushmoor held its first ever Diwali event.
